2.4. Price of the Luggage Storage Service.

The rate for the Luggage Storage Service will be as published on the website www.elcaminoconcorreos.com, where the price is shown in euros, including tax.

Rates are applied according to the type of Storage and the number of days booked. For the purposes of calculating the number of days for which the Luggage Storage Service has been booked, one (1) day is defined as a calendar day during office opening hours. The office will be closed on 25 December and 1 and 6 January; however, if luggage/baggage has been stored previously, charges will still apply for those days.

For example, luggage/baggage deposited on a Monday at 08:30 will be stored at the rate applicable to one (1) day until 20:30 on that same day. From that point onwards, it will be counted as a second day for the pricing purposes.

In this case, payment is made by card or PayPal once the details listed above have been entered.

If the User signs up for the Luggage Storage Service directly at the Main Office in Santiago de Compostela, CORREOS staff will collect the relevant storage amounts at that time and issue the Customer with a storage receipt.

If the User signs up for the Luggage Storage Service via the website www.elcaminoconcorreos.com, they must have paid for the Service via that website. If the Customer wishes to receive a full invoice for the service they are contracting, they must indicate this when placing the order via the form, providing the details of their DNI [Spanish ID document] and address, which are required to issue the invoice.

2.6. Luggage/baggage storage.

Luggage/baggage must be handed in by the User at the Main Office in Santiago de Compostela, during its opening hours.

Whether the User books at the Main Office in Santiago de Compostela itself or makes the purchase via the website www.elcaminoconcorreos.com, having complied with the procedure set out in Condition 2.5 hereof, CORREOS will provide the Customer with a storage receipt bearing an allocation number at the time of the storage. The User must present this storage receipt to CORREOS staff when collecting their luggage/baggage, together with their Spanish ID Document (DNI), passport, residence permit, driving licence (in physical or digital format, via the DGT app) or a valid ID document from the recipient’s country bearing a photograph of the holder, for the purpose of verifying their identity. The User may request at that Office that the storage receipt be sent to them by email, subject to the User’s express consent.  In such cases, the User must provide the email address to which it should be sent.

2.7. Delivery method.

CORREOS will store the luggage/baggage at its premises for the period specified on the storage receipt, specifically from the date and time of delivery until the date and time of collection arranged by the Customer.

2.8. Opening hours, access to the luggage storage facility and staff in charge.

The opening hours of the Luggage Storage Facility at the CORREOS Main Office in Santiago de Compostela are as follows:

  • High season: Monday to Sunday, from 08:30 to 20:30.
  • Low season: Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 20:30, and  weekends and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00.

Users may check the opening hours via any of CORREOS’ customer service channels, as defined in clause 10 of these Terms and Conditions, on the website www.elcaminoconcorreos.com and on the storage receipt. These opening hours are subject to change, at CORREOS’ discretion, depending on operational requirements.

Access to the Luggage Storage Facility will always be permitted not only to CORREOS staff responsible for supervising and managing the service, but also to the Police and the State Security Forces, as well as local law enforcement agencies, in the course of their duties. CORREOS hereby informs the User that, in the cases provided for by law, the competent authorities may open and inspect luggage/baggage without prior notice to the User, and the User accepts, by virtue of these Terms and Conditions, that their luggage/baggage may be detained, subjected to inspection or other additional measures.

By accepting these Terms and Conditions, the Customer acknowledges that CORREOS may provide the Luggage Storage Service using its own resources, staff and equipment, or may partially subcontract the provision of the service.

2.9. Return of luggage/baggage to the User.

CORREOS staff will require the storage receipt in order for the User to collect or have their luggage/baggage returned.

The person in charge of the luggage storage facility may, if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that the person presenting the storage receipt is not the User, request to see their Spanish ID Document (DNI), passport, residence permit, driving licence (in physical or digital format, via the DGT app) or a valid ID document from the recipient’s country bearing a photograph of the holder. In the event that the Spanish ID Document (DNI), passport, residence permit, driving licence (in physical or digital format, via the DGT app) or valid ID document from the recipient’s country bearing a photograph of the holder does not match the one presented, or if the holder refuses to present it, CORREOS may suspend the return of the luggage/baggage until such a document is presented. Otherwise, the luggage/baggage will remain in the luggage storage facility until the required checks have been completed.

The User will be charged the current rate for each additional day that the luggage/baggage is held in storage.

3.1. CORREOS does not accept the following items for Storage:

  • Money, jewellery, precious metals, business samples or documents, and any other items of particular value; the decision to leave these items in storage is the sole responsibility of the User.
  • In general, any product or material that may be classified as hazardous material, dangerous goods, or a prohibited or restricted item under current legislation, such as, by way of example, objects whose possession constitutes a criminal offence and narcotic or psychotropic substances.
  • Luggage/baggage that is open or whose contents are not all inside them.
  • Luggage/baggage whose shape and contents pose a risk of causing harm to people or property.

3.2. CORREOS reserves the right to refuse any luggage/baggage that is in poor condition or shows signs of damage; to this end, it may ask the User to provide a written statement exempting CORREOS from any liability in relation to the poor condition and/or damage to the contents, provided that this does not affect the facility itself or other luggage/baggage.

4.- UNCLAIMED LUGGAGE/BAGGAGE

4.1. For the first thirty (30) days from the collection date agreed by the User, the luggage/baggage will remain at the CORREOS Main Office in Santiago de Compostela. Luggage/baggage left behind during this period will be returned in person at the Office, subject to the Customer paying the storage costs; the current rates applicable for each day will also be applied, depending on the period to which the charge relates, along with any other associated costs. CORREOS will send the forgotten luggage/baggage to the User, at its discretion, if the User so requests and pays all delivery costs in advance by postal order. The cost associated with the return will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on various factors (weight, destination, etc.).

4.2. Thirty (30) days after the collection date agreed by the User, any unclaimed luggage/baggage shall be deemed abandoned, and the User shall forfeit any right to its return or to compensation in respect thereof. Once this period of thirty (30) days has elapsed, the User expressly authorises CORREOS to dispose of the luggage/baggage as it sees fit in accordance with its internal procedures, including the possibility of destroying it, and hereby indemnifies CORREOS against any claims by third parties.

5.- USE OF THE E-MAIL SERVICE.

The User authorises CORREOS to contact them by e-mail to manage the storage of the luggage/baggage, its collection, or to deal with any other matter or incident relating to the stored luggage/baggage, provided that the User has supplied their e-mail address during the booking process.

6.1. The User undertakes to comply with these Terms and Conditions, as well as to act in accordance with applicable legislation, morality, good practice and the requirements of good faith and public order, exercising due diligence, and refraining from using the Luggage Storage Service in any way that may prevent, damage or impair its normal operation, the property or rights of CORREOS, other users or, in general, any third party.

6.2. Specifically, and without this imposing any restriction on the preceding paragraph, the Customer:

The User accepts responsibility for the consequences of any incorrect, incomplete, false or fraudulent declaration regarding the luggage/baggage or its contents, thereby exempting CORREOS from any liability.

  • Declares that the luggage/baggage meets the requirements regarding dimensions, weight, packaging and contents to be accepted by CORREOS. In particular, the User undertakes not to use the Luggage Storage Service for illegal or unauthorised purposes and agrees not to store items whose mere possession or trade is illegal or requires a specific licence or authorisation.
  • The Customer also undertakes not to use the Luggage Storage Service to store items intended for collection by a third party.

7.- WAIVER AND SUSPENSION OF THE SERVICE. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL.

7.1. CORREOS reserves the right to suspend the Luggage Storage Service and to refuse to store the luggage/baggage in the event of the User’s failure to comply with the provisions of these Terms and Conditions and, in particular, with the provisions of clause 5.

In cases where CORREOS is entitled to suspend the storage for a reason covered by these Terms and Conditions, it shall inform the User accordingly, and the User shall not be entitled to a  refund of the amount paid.

7.2. Given that the Luggage Storage Service covered by this contract is a service provision contract, the User acknowledges and accepts, and is hereby informed prior to accepting the Terms and Conditions, that the right of withdrawal is not applicable to this contract as set out in Article 103 a) of Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007, of 16 November, approving the revised text of the General Act for the Protection of Consumers and Users, once the execution has started. The User therefore acknowledges that, upon acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, they will have forfeited their right of withdrawal.

8.- LIABILITY.

8.1. CORREOS, in its capacity as a storage facility, shall only be liable to the User for any loss, damage or harm sustained by the luggage/baggage stored as a result of its wilful misconduct or negligence, in accordance with the rules governing commercial storage.

8.2. CORREOS shall not, under any circumstances, be liable for any money or other valuables contained within any luggage/baggage.

CORREOS shall not be liable for any damage or natural wear and tear to luggage/baggage entrusted to its direct care, provided such damage is not attributable to its fault or to causes related to their storage in the facility.
