Caminho Francês

Torres del Río - Logroño

27'98 km Difficulty
The beginning of this day is marked by a steep climb for the first three kilometres with some really hard stretches. Once you have reached the chapel of the Virgen del Poyo and you are back onto the NA-1110, the signs will lead you to a descent into de ravine of Cornava. The path runs parallel to the NA-1110, with some parts on the asphalt itself.

The wonderful church of Santa María de Viana welcomes pilgrims when they have walked a bit more than 10 kilometres from the departure point. This is the last Navarrese village on the Camino. Once it is left behind, the path continues behind the chapel of the Virgen de Cuevas, a wonderful spot to take a break.

The route continues through several forests until it moves from Navarre to La Rioja, as the stone sign explains, 16 kilometres away from the departure point. The last part of this section leads to Logroño across the current bridge over the Ebro, built on top of the one constructed by Santo Domingo de la Calzada and San Juan de Ortega in the 11th century.

Logroño offers a lively old town, the cathedral of Santa María la Redonda and its famous Espolón.

Tips from our postmen and women

“For a novel and interesting way of taking in Logroño, try a higher vantage point. . The tower of the church of Santiago, after 220 steps, offers a beautiful view over the city and surrounding areas”. Máximo Ramírez, Correos of Logroño.
