Section 13. Outeiro - Santiago (17 km)
The last stage in the Sanabria Way leaves from Outeiro to Lestedo, in the municipality of Boqueixón. This is mostly on asphalt and you continue towards A Susana, getting closer to Santiago de Compostela.
You have to cross several roads and railway lines until you reach the beautiful chapel of Santa Lucía, to continue onto the Camiño Real de Piñeiro to Angrois. Most pilgrims tend to hold their breath when they cross over the railway tracks as this is where the terrible train accident happened in 2013. 79 people lost their lives and those who survived were helped out of the train by the villagers of Angrois, now heroes known the world over.
You continue onto the Calzada do Sar and on top of the mountain, you may glimpse at the Cidade da Cultura de Galicia before you see the city of Santiago de Compostela
. The neighbourhood of Sar shows pilgrims its wonderful Colexiata de Santa María, with leaning pillars. You cross the river on a stone bridge and there is only one last climb to go, the Costa do Castrón Douro until you are in the old town of Santiago, where the Praza do Obradoiro and the Cathedral await you. Here
